About The Cave for Nintendo Wii U
The Cave introduces itself as a living, talking place that has watched human wishes go wrong for thousands of years. Seven characters arrive at its entrance, each carrying a dark desire, from a knight seeking glory to twins planning something dreadful. You choose three of them for your journey, and the cave shapes special areas around their stories. The tone mixes comedy with genuine darkness, a signature of its creator Ron Gilbert. Every descent teaches the cave, and the player, something uncomfortable about wanting more.
Each character has a special skill used in the platforming puzzles, such as the time traveler phasing through doors or the scientist hacking machines. Many puzzles need all three heroes working together, holding switches and carrying objects across the winding paths. Finishing the game with different trios reveals new story areas, so several trips are needed to see every tale. The cave itself narrates with dry humor. It is a compact adventure with sharp writing, memorable scenes and a thoughtful sting in the tail of each personal story.

A quick note on buying today. Since the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, new digital purchases are no longer possible. The sensible and honest way to play The Cave now is a physical disc bought from a retailer or a reputable seller. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their own console. Checking the disc condition before you pay is always wise.
It still stands tall among Wii U favorites.
