ZombiU for Nintendo Wii U

About ZombiU for Nintendo Wii U

ZombiU is a survival horror game set in a London overrun by a plague that a prophet foresaw centuries earlier. You play as a survivor guided by the Prepper, a voice who helps you from a safe house beneath the city. The twist that defines the game is permanent death. When your survivor falls, they become one of the infected, and you wake as a brand new survivor who must find your old self to recover your gear. Every street and station in the ruined city feels thick with dread.

The GamePad becomes your survival kit. It shows your map, scanner and inventory in real time, so looking down to manage supplies leaves you exposed on the television screen, a brilliant source of tension. Combat is slow and desperate, often fought with a cricket bat against single zombies that still pose real danger. Ammo is scarce, light is limited and scanning a dark room can reveal horrors or precious supplies. Notes and messages from other survivors add bleak flavor. Few launch games used the Wii U hardware with this much imagination or courage.

The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for ZombiU. A physical disc from a retailer is easy to find and usually very cheap, as it was a major launch title. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their Wii U console.

One of the scariest and boldest games the Wii U ever received.
