LEGO The Hobbit for Nintendo 3DS

About LEGO The Hobbit for Nintendo 3DS

LEGO The Hobbit follows the first two Hobbit films, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. Bilbo Baggins leaves his cozy home to join Gandalf and thirteen dwarves on a quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug. The journey crosses the Misty Mountains, Mirkwood and Lake town, with trolls, goblins, elves and giant spiders along the way. Middle earth looks lovely in bricks, and the films and their music and drama are retold with warm Lego jokes throughout.

Each dwarf has a skill, from mining and archery to strength for moving heavy objects, and buddy up moves let pairs of characters combine their strength for special tasks. You gather resources like timber and gems while exploring, then use them in building moments and quests in the open hub world. Bilbo gains the One Ring, which lets him slip into a shadowy wraith world to find hidden things. Collectibles and side quests fill the road to the mountain with reasons to wander off the path.

The digital storefront chapter is over for this system. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and new digital purchases stopped then. Your best option now is a physical cartridge from a retailer or a well reviewed second hand game seller in your area. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, which remain tied to their accounts.

It earns its place in the long Nintendo 3DS story.
