Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters for Nintendo 3DS

About Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters for Nintendo 3DS

Digimon Universe Appli Monsters imagines a world where smartphone apps hide living creatures called Appmon. A young hero named Haru meets Gatchmon, a search app monster, and learns that a rogue artificial intelligence is corrupting Appmon across the net. The story ties into the anime of the same name but tells its own adventure, full of friendship, school life and digital danger in a world where everyone carries the monsters in their pocket.

Battles are turn based and built around your team of Appmon. Each partner has its own element, skills and personality, and you can fuse two Appmon together to create stronger forms with new powers. Chips collected along the way add special effects in battle, letting you heal, strike harder or twist a fight in your favor. Exploring digital zones, clearing corrupted areas and recruiting new Appmon keeps the journey fresh across its many chapters. Fusing partners is a thrill because results are often surprising.

This adventure stayed in Japan, so plan on an import search if it tempts you. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and with it went any chance of a new digital purchase. A physical cartridge from a Japanese retailer or a specialist import shop is the honest option today. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games whenever they return to their system.

A bright and modern spin on classic monster raising.
