3D Sonic the Hedgehog for Nintendo 3DS

About 3D Sonic the Hedgehog for Nintendo 3DS

3D Sonic the Hedgehog rebuilds the Mega Drive original that started it all. Dr Robotnik has been trapping animals inside robots across South Island, and one very fast hedgehog is out to smash his plans zone by zone. From the green hills of the opening stage to the scrap metal dangers of the finale, this is the template every mascot platformer after it had to answer, now with layered 3D depth in every background.

Speed is the thrill, but care wins the day. Rings protect you from harm, springs launch you skyward and loops beg you to hold your nerve at full pace. Six Chaos Emeralds hide inside spinning special stages for players chasing the best ending. This 3D release adds the spin dash that later games made famous, along with stage select help and display options that mimic a classic television or a crisp modern screen. The sense of flow when a whole zone clicks, rings singing and springs firing in rhythm, explains why this game changed platformers forever back then.

Gotta go physical these days. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for this remake. A physical cartridge from a retailer is the honest way to own it now. Fans who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games and race through Green Hill whenever they like.

Where Sonic began, presented better than ever on a handheld.
