Dark Void Zero is a retro style action game built as a playful tribute to the 8 bit era. Capcom presented it as a lost classic, complete with a made up backstory about a forgotten cartridge, and the joke works because the game itself is genuinely good. You play a hero with a jetpack and a blaster, fighting alien Watchers across a strange dimension in chunky pixel art with a catchy chip tune soundtrack.

Movement is the star. Your jetpack lets you hover and boost through gaps that normal jumps could never cross, and levels are built around that freedom. Three stages hide secret rooms, extra weapons and tough mid bosses for players who explore carefully. The game is short by design, much like the classics it honors, but it is dense with ideas and asks for real skill by the end. Saving is handled with a simple code system for extra retro flavor. Secret areas reward players who test every wall and ceiling.
