Xenoblade Chronicles X is a vast science fiction adventure set on the alien planet Mira. After Earth is destroyed in a war between alien forces, a colony ship crashes on Mira and its survivors build the city of New Los Angeles. You join BLADE, the group that explores the wilds, rescues lost pods and defends the city. Mira is enormous, split into five beautiful continents of jungles, deserts and glowing plains, filled with creatures far bigger than you. Few Wii U games offer this sense of scale or wonder.

Exploration is the heart of the game. You run across plains on foot, then earn a Skell, a giant pilotable robot that can drive, fly and battle the huge beasts of Mira. Combat is real time, mixing arts, positioning and teamwork with your party. Planting probes across the map opens fast travel, gathers resources and reveals secrets. Online features let squads share tasks and face world bosses together. The story unfolds in chapters with affinity missions that deepen your bond with the cast. Hundreds of hours can vanish into Mira without seeing everything.

The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for this game.
