Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper brings together fighters from the Dynasty Warriors and Samurai Warriors series in one giant battle against a multi headed serpent called Hydra. When the serpent crushes the combined heroes, a mysterious guide sends survivors back through time to gather allies and change fate. The roster is enormous, with well over a hundred playable warriors from China and Japan, plus guest characters. This Hyper edition was built for the Wii U launch, adding new fighters, chapters and a duel mode made for the system.

Combat is classic Warriors action on a huge scale. You charge into crowds of hundreds, chain light and heavy attacks, and unleash spectacular Musou moves that clear whole streets of enemies. Teams of three let you swap warriors mid combo, mixing weapons and styles without pause. Between battles you share bonds, improve weapons and plan which stages to revisit in free mode. The story branches through time travel, so saving a fallen hero can open new routes. Two players can fight together, which makes the biggest battles feel like a shared festival of chaos.

Warriors fans are in luck with this launch title. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible through Nintendo now. A physical disc from a retailer is easy to source, because Hyper received a proper boxed release worldwide. Anyone who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their console as usual.
