Toshin Toshi: Girls Gift RPG for Nintendo 3DS

About Toshin Toshi: Girls Gift RPG for Nintendo 3DS

Toshin Toshi: Girls Gift RPG is a Japanese dungeon role playing game for the Nintendo 3DS with an unusually romantic goal. In the tournament city, a great dungeon contest decides the strongest warrior, and tradition says the winner may propose to the city most admired young lady. You play a young fighter entering the labyrinth beneath the city, battling monsters, gathering treasure and growing stronger between visits to the town above for supplies and conversation.

Exploration mixes first person dungeon crawling with classic menu battles and character growth. The gift element in the title matters, since building bonds with the girls of the city through presents and conversations is part of your motivation and progress. The tone stays light and playful, more fairy tale wager than serious war story. Released only in Japan, it is an odd and charming curio that blends dungeon crawling traditions with a dating flavored frame story.

Finding a copy today works a little differently than it once did. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for this game. The honest way to play Toshin Toshi: Girls Gift RPG now is a physical cartridge from a retailer or a reputable second hand shop. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their own system.

Win the labyrinth, win the day and maybe win a heart.
