The Swindle for Nintendo Wii U

About The Swindle for Nintendo Wii U

The Swindle is a stealthy burglary game set in a steam driven London, where Scotland Yard is about to activate an all seeing machine that will end crime forever. As a master thief, you have one hundred days to break into the Yard itself and destroy the device. Every night before that is practice and profit, breaking into homes and businesses across procedurally built districts. The clock gives the whole game a delicious pressure, since every wasted day brings the machine closer to waking.

Each burglary is a small stealth platformer. You sneak past guards and cameras, hack computers for extra cash and grab every coin before escaping to your airship. Money buys better tools, from lock picks to bombs and the ability to hack from afar. If a thief is caught or falls, they are gone for good, and a new thief takes over with your upgrades intact. The art is rich and moody, and the loop of risk, reward and one more night is very hard to resist.

Shopping for this one takes a physical route now. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, meaning new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to enjoy The Swindle is a physical disc from a retailer or a well reviewed second hand seller. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their Wii U. Always check that the disc is clean and the case matches the region.

It still stands tall among Wii U favorites.
