Puzzle and Dragon X Kami no Shou is the chapter of the Nintendo 3DS adventure focused on the story of the gods in the land of Dragoza. Droplets that sustain the world are fading, and a young Soul Armourer sets out with monster partners to restore balance. This version was sold alongside its twin chapter in Japan, sharing the world and cast while telling its side of the tale, which made trading and battling between versions part of the fun.

Battles use the series match puzzle board, where you slide one orb freely for a few seconds to line up combos of colours, and every match orders your monsters to strike. Between fights you explore towns and fields in proper role playing style, capture new monsters and craft Soul Armour from their essence to change your hero skills. The system rewards clever orb routes planned a few moves ahead, and big combo turns feel brilliant to land.
