Pokemon Y for Nintendo 3DS

About Pokemon Y for Nintendo 3DS

Pokemon Y tells the Kalos story with the legendary Yveltal at its centre, a dark and striking bird linked to an ancient tale of destruction and renewal. Your journey begins in Vaniville Town with Chespin, Fennekin or Froakie at your side, and a cheerful group of rivals who meet up, compare Pokedex progress and push each other onward. Team Flare causes trouble in red suits across the region, hiding a plan that reaches back three thousand years.

Mega Evolution steals the show in battles, letting trusted partners transform for a short burst of extra power and a bold new look. Y offers its own set of version exclusive Pokemon and Mega Stones, which makes trading with X players genuinely worthwhile. The Player Search System keeps trading, battling and chatting with friends close at hand, while horde battles speed up training in tall grass. It is a smooth, colourful and confident adventure.

The route to playing it has changed in recent years. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, meaning new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge picked up through a retailer, and the second hand market stays active for popular titles like this one. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games freely.

For many fans, Y is the definitive way to meet Yveltal and Kalos.
