Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn for Nintendo 3DS

About Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn for Nintendo 3DS

Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn brings the beloved yarn adventure to the Nintendo 3DS in an expanded edition. Kirby is pulled into Patch Land, a world made entirely of cloth, thread and buttons, where his body becomes yarn and his usual inhale is useless. Teaming up with Prince Fluff, he journeys to stitch the magic yarn back together and stop the sorcerer Yin Yarn. Every stage looks handmade, with zippers to pull, fabrics to scrunch and seams that hide secrets. This 3DS version was the final first party release for the system, and it arrived in fine style.

Kirby transforms constantly, becoming a car, a parachute, a dolphin, a train and more as each stage demands, while his yarn whip grabs enemies and unwinds them into balls to throw. The Extra edition adds new abilities like a yarn hat that creates helpers, plus a harder Devilish Mode with a mischievous foe chasing Kirby through stages. Collecting beads and furniture to decorate a little apartment adds gentle goals between levels. It remains one of the most beautiful and relaxing platformers ever made.

Finding a copy today means thinking physical first. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge from a retailer or a trusted shop that still stocks 3DS games. People who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their own system.

Soft, stitched and completely lovely from start to finish.
