iSpot Japan for Nintendo 3DS
About iSpot Japan for Nintendo 3DS
iSpot Japan turns a relaxing tour of Japan into a gentle puzzle game. Each stage presents two versions of a lovely scene, perhaps a quiet temple garden, a busy street in Tokyo or snow falling on a mountain village, and asks you to find the small differences between them. A lantern vanishes here, a sign changes there, and spotting every change takes a calm eye and a little patience. There is no rush and no punishment for taking your time, which makes it feel like flipping through a travel photo album with a playful twist.
You examine each picture using the touch screen, tapping the spots where something looks off, and correct finds fill in your progress for that scene. Later stages hide their changes more cleverly, tucking them into crowds, reflections and busy patterns where the eye slides past. Hints are there when a final difference refuses to show itself, keeping frustration low. The collection of scenes doubles as a small celebration of Japanese places and seasons, from cherry blossom parks to winter festivals. Sessions can last two minutes or twenty, and both feel equally satisfying.

New players should know the shop window has closed for good. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way forward is a physical cartridge bought from a retailer or a reliable second hand source. Those who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their own 3DS.
A peaceful postcard of a game, best enjoyed slowly.
