Earthbound for Nintendo 3DS

About Earthbound for Nintendo 3DS

Earthbound, known as EarthBound in its classic spelling, follows Ness, a boy from the town of Onett who investigates a fallen meteor and learns that an alien evil threatens the whole world. With a baseball bat, a backpack and growing psychic powers, Ness travels through quirky towns, deserts and strange places, gathering friends for a fight that is funny, sad and unforgettable.

Battles use a turn based system with a rolling health meter that can save you if you heal fast enough. Enemies range from annoyed animals to truly bizarre creations, and the modern setting, with shops, phones and burgers, still feels fresh today. The writing mixes jokes with real heart in a way few games have matched. On 3DS, this beloved classic reached a new generation of handheld players. Returning players will notice how much care went into the little touches that make each area feel distinct and memorable.

New players should know how things stand today. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, which means new digital purchases are no longer possible at all. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge from a retailer, a local game shop or a trusted seller of used games, checked with care before you pay. If you bought it digitally in the past, you are fine, because owners from before the closure can still access their purchased games.

It remains an easy recommendation for anyone building a 3DS collection.
