Journey of the Cursed King follows a silent royal guard traveling with King Trode, who has been turned into a small green creature by the wicked jester Dhoulmagus. Princess Medea has also been cursed, and the only hope is to track the jester across the kingdom of Trodain and beyond. The road passes through lively towns, deep dungeons and wide green fields under bright skies.

Battles are turn based and clear to read, with a tension system that lets heroes power up for a stronger strike. Each character has distinct weapon paths and skills, so building the party feels personal. The 3DS version adds two playable companions, new story scenes and visible monsters on the field, which makes exploring faster and more lively.
