Axiom Verge for Nintendo Wii U

About Axiom Verge for Nintendo Wii U

Axiom Verge is a moody action adventure set on a vast alien world full of ancient machines and crawling horrors. You play Trace, a scientist who wakes up after a laboratory accident in a place that should not exist. Armed at first with a single strange weapon, he explores a huge connected map of caves, ruins and laboratories. The story deals with big ideas about reality, identity and creation, and it trusts you to piece the truth together yourself. The atmosphere is thick, lonely and unforgettable.

Exploration rewards curiosity at every turn. The famous address disruptor tool lets you glitch the world itself, passing through corrupted areas, changing enemies and reaching secrets that look impossible. Dozens of weapons and upgrades hide off the main path, and huge bosses guard the deepest areas. The whole game was created by one developer, art, music and code included, which makes its size and polish remarkable.

Because the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, you cannot make a new digital purchase of this game today. The practical choice is a physical disc from a retailer with Wii U stock. Owners who bought the digital version before the closure can still access their purchased games, which is good news for early fans. Hunting down a boxed copy can be part of the fun, especially for players building a shelf of Wii U favorites.

Wii U owners should not let this one slip by.
