Ace of Seafood for Nintendo Wii U

About Ace of Seafood for Nintendo Wii U

Ace of Seafood is one of the strangest action games on the Wii U, and it knows it. You lead a school of fish, crabs and other sea creatures in open ocean battles against rival sea life. Every creature fires bright laser beams, turning the sea into a wild light show. The humor comes from how seriously the game treats its silly idea. Under the jokes there is a real team based shooter with territory to capture and a food chain to climb.

You build your squad from the creatures you defeat and claim reefs as your own. Stronger species join your side as you win battles, and soon you command everything from small fry to huge ocean predators. Positioning and numbers matter, and big fights can turn chaotic fast. The controls take a little practice, but the madness on screen keeps you smiling. It is weird, funny and completely unique. If you have ever wanted to watch a crab army win a laser war, this is your game.

Because the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, you cannot make a new digital purchase of this game today. The practical choice is a physical disc from a retailer with Wii U stock. Owners who bought the digital version before the closure can still access their purchased games, which is good news for early fans. Hunting down a boxed copy can be part of the fun, especially for players building a shelf of Wii U favorites.

Give it an evening and it will win you over.
