Yoshi's Woolly World reimagines the dinosaur hero and his island in yarn, fabric and thread. The wizard Kamek has turned the Yoshis into balls of wool, and one brave Yoshi sets off to rescue them across a craft themed world. Every stage looks handmade, with knitted hills, stitched clouds and enemies you could imagine sewing at home. Yoshi unravels walls with his tongue, tosses balls of yarn instead of eggs and ties up foes in string. It is gentle, joyful and one of the most beautiful platformers Nintendo has ever made.

Levels hide Wonder Wool in secret spots, and collecting all five in a stage unlocks a new Yoshi pattern to play as. Two players can team up in co op, swallowing and helping each other across tricky jumps. Amiibo support adds patterns based on famous characters, and a second easy mode with wings helps younger players soar over trouble. Bosses are playful creations like a giant knitted chicken. The Wii U GamePad works as a second screen for the second player. Every stage introduces a small new idea, keeping the smile fresh to the final world.

The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for Yoshi's Woolly World. A physical disc from a retailer is simple to find, and many copies were bundled with a yarn Yoshi amiibo. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their Wii U console.
