The Croods: Prehistoric Party for Nintendo Wii U

About The Croods: Prehistoric Party for Nintendo Wii U

The Croods Prehistoric Party brings the animated film family together for a collection of stone age mini games. Grug, Eep and the rest of the clan compete in silly events built around hunting, racing and survival in a world full of strange hybrid creatures. The bright cartoon look matches the movie, and the humor stays light for younger players. It is designed as a party game first, the sort of title a family loads together when everyone wants something simple and cheerful to share.

Events are quick to learn and use simple controls, so children and parents can compete on fair ground. Some games use motion controls, adding physical comedy to the contests. Playing alone against computer rivals works for practice, but the real fun comes from a room full of players teasing each other after every close finish. Unlockable extras reward steady play. Nobody should expect deep systems here, and that is fine. This is gentle party entertainment built around a popular film, best enjoyed in short and happy bursts.

Times have changed for Wii U owners. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for The Croods: Prehistoric Party or any other title. Look instead for a physical disc from a retailer or a trusted second hand shop, and inspect it before playing. Gamers who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, keeping their original library alive and well.

A fine reminder of why the Wii U charmed so many.
