Star Fox 64 for Nintendo 3DS

About Star Fox 64 for Nintendo 3DS

Star Fox 64 is the classic space shooter that made Fox McCloud a star. The evil scientist Andross has declared war on the Lylat system, and the Star Fox team, Fox, Falco, Peppy and Slippy, fly out in their Arwing fighters to stop him. The story moves planet by planet, with famous radio chatter between the pilots giving every mission personality. Corneria, Venom and the worlds between them are burned into the memory of a generation of players.

Most missions are on rails shooting at its finest. You blast enemy ships, dodge laser fire and choose branching paths that change which planets you visit. Some stages open up into free flying arenas for tense boss duels, including the famous tank battle on Macbeth. Shooting medals and finding secret routes reward skilled pilots who fly a stage again and again. The barrel roll, the charged shot and the banter between wingmates all come together into a shooter that feels tight and theatrical. Every run teaches you a little more about each route and boss.

Finding it for the Nintendo 3DS family takes a specific route today. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so fresh digital purchases have ended. Look for a physical cartridge through retro game shops and trusted sellers who deal in classic games. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their own system, which is a comfort for long time fans.

It is a landmark shooter that still flies as proudly as ever.
