Shovel Knight: King of Cards for Nintendo 3DS

About Shovel Knight: King of Cards for Nintendo 3DS

Shovel Knight King of Cards is the final campaign in the Treasure Trove saga and the largest one of all. This time you play King Knight, the pompous and golden armored member of the Order of No Quarter, long before he claimed his throne. His quest to become a card champion in the game of Joustus takes him across new lands ruled by three card kings. The story is funny and surprisingly touching, showing the vanity and loneliness under all that polished gold armor.

King Knight plays unlike any other hero in the series, bashing forward with shoulder charges and spinning through the air after hitting walls and enemies. Between stages, Joustus card battles take over the taverns, a full card game where you claim gems by outsmarting rivals across special boards. There are more than thirty new stages, new bosses and plenty of secrets, plus card collections to complete. It is a huge and generous finale that still feels fresh after three earlier campaigns in the same world.

A quick update on availability: the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so King of Cards cannot be bought new in digital form now. Look to a physical cartridge, with the Treasure Trove edition being the common way this campaign was sold for the system. Gamers who bought the digital content before the closure can still access their purchased games on their Nintendo 3DS. Checking the edition before you pay ensures you get the campaign you want.

King of Cards closes the saga with style and surprising heart.
