Sayonara! HakoBoy! for Nintendo 3DS

About Sayonara! HakoBoy! for Nintendo 3DS

Sayonara HakoBoy, known in the west as Bye Bye BoxBoy, is the third and final adventure of Qbby, the little square hero who can create boxes out of his own body. This time Qbby must repair a world struck by a mysterious black smoke, solving puzzles across several planets. The series was made by HAL Laboratory, the studio behind Kirby, and it shares that same gift for simple ideas explored with endless creativity and charm.

Qbby can produce a set number of boxes in a row, then use them as stairs, bridges, shields or weights for switches. This final entry adds new box types and new hazards, including bombs, teleporters and boxes with special powers, and the puzzles grow wonderfully devious. Every world introduces a fresh twist just as you feel comfortable, then combines old and new ideas in its final stages. Amiibo support and bonus costumes add light rewards for fans who chase full completion.

Qbby's farewell now lives on cartridge and old systems. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. A physical copy from a retailer is the way to say hello to this goodbye. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, keeping Qbby's cleverest puzzles ready whenever they return.

It is a fond farewell to a tiny genius.
