Pokemon Omega Ruby for Nintendo 3DS

About Pokemon Omega Ruby for Nintendo 3DS

Pokemon Omega Ruby is the companion remake to Alpha Sapphire, telling the Hoenn story from the other side of an ancient rivalry. Team Magma wants to expand the land so people and Pokemon can spread and grow, and their plan means waking Groudon, the legendary Pokemon who shaped the continents. You start in Littleroot Town and cross a region of forests, deserts, volcanoes and wide seas, collecting badges and standing between the world and a second shaping. The remake dresses everything in the rich 3D of the sixth generation.

Mega Evolution headlines the battle system, with new Mega forms for Hoenn favorites and Primal Reversion giving Groudon and Kyogre terrifying ancient power. Exploring gains wonderful new tools, from soaring across the whole region on a legendary's back to creeping up on hidden Pokemon rustling in the grass. Secret Bases return with decorating and sharing, contests shine with a new character stealing scenes and the post game Delta Episode delivers a sky high finale about meteors and duty. It is a generous remake that honors the original while feeling fully modern.

One thing has changed since launch: the shop window has closed. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge from a retailer with stock left. Players who bought Pokemon Omega Ruby digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, so early fans lose nothing at all.

Hoenn's land has never felt this grand or this alive.
