Photos with Mario for Nintendo 3DS

About Photos with Mario for Nintendo 3DS

Photos with Mario turns the Nintendo 3DS cameras into a playful stage for the Mushroom Kingdom. With the help of special character cards, Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, a Goomba and a Koopa Troopa can appear in your real surroundings, standing on tables, floors and garden paths. You line up your shot, arrange the characters and take photos that blend the cheerful Mario world with your own home. Like its Animal Crossing sibling, this is a light photography toy rather than a story adventure, made for quick smiles and silly pictures.

Each character card brings its own poses and reactions, and placing several characters together opens up fun little scenes, like Bowser looming over a tiny Goomba on your kitchen counter. You can adjust sizes and angles to make the cast look giant or tiny, which is where most of the comedy comes from. Snapped photos are saved so you can show friends your best setups later. The controls stay simple enough for young Mario fans, and the cards themselves became collectible items. It is a small idea, but a charming one for anyone who grew up with these characters.

For anyone discovering Photos with Mario late, the doors have closed. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible, and this was always a digital only title with no physical edition. It remains playable for the people who secured it earlier, since anyone who bought it before the closure can still access their purchased games today.

Simple, silly and sweet, it earns its place in any Mario collection.
