Monster Strike began as a huge mobile hit in Japan, and this handheld edition rebuilds it as a full adventure with its own story and characters. The idea is wonderfully simple. Your team of monsters sits on a battlefield like marbles, and you pull back and flick one across the screen, bouncing it off walls and enemies. Every bounce can trigger a friendly monster's bump combo, filling the screen with attacks and effects. A cast of young heroes and a cheerful guide monster give the battles a proper story to travel through.

Combat mixes aim, angles and team building. A monster that strikes an ally on its path triggers that ally's special bump attack, so planning a shot means thinking several bounces ahead. Strike shots unleash each monster's signature move when when their turn counter runs down, and saving one for a boss can decide a whole stage. Collecting and evolving monsters between battles builds the team, with elements and abilities that suit different enemies.
