Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for Nintendo 3DS

About Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for Nintendo 3DS

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sends you on the road with a travelling caravan, visiting new towns and ports as a mysterious virus spreads among the monsters of the land. The story is bigger and more personal than before, with a giant elder dragon threatening a city and an old mystery waiting at the top of a great tower. Your hunter grows from a caravan guard into a hero of several towns. New monsters like the swift Nerscylla and the flagship Gore Magala give the adventure a darker and more dramatic flavor throughout.

Movement changed the series here. Hunters can climb walls, leap from ledges and mount a monster, riding it until it topples for free hits. The new insect glaive fights from the air, while the charge blade swaps between sword and axe forms in one weapon. Terrain matters more than ever, with slopes and ledges built into every arena.

Today the search starts in a different place. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. A physical cartridge from a retailer is the way to own this game now. Few games on the system sold more copies, so finding a clean boxed cartridge is simple, and it remains the easiest hunting adventure to pick up cheaply. Anyone who picked it up digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their own system.

Mount the monster, ride the caravan and chase the Frenzy to its source.
