Medarot 7 brought the Medabots series to Nintendo 3DS in two versions, Kabuto and Kuwagata, named for the beetle themed medals at the heart of the story. You play a young Medafighter who receives a first Medabot and steps into schoolyard Robattles that grow into a much bigger mystery. Tinpet frames, medals with personalities and swappable parts define the series, and this entry modernized the look while keeping the collecting heart intact.

Robattles are turn based fights where the head part health and team roles decide everything, because losing the head ends the battle. Parts carry weapons and armor with real tradeoffs, and medals grow stronger and gain skills as they fight. Version differences include exclusive parts and Medabots, encouraging trading between Kabuto and Kuwagata owners. Outside battle you explore towns, talk with rivals and take on story events in a structure that will feel familiar to creature collecting fans.

Medarot 7 was a Japanese release in both versions. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible today. The honest way to play is a physical cartridge from a retailer who imports Japanese games, choosing Kabuto or Kuwagata with the version exclusives in mind. Owners who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games and their tuned Medabot teams.
