Mario & Luigi: RPG1 DX for Nintendo 3DS

About Mario & Luigi: RPG1 DX for Nintendo 3DS

Mario and Luigi RPG1 DX is the Japanese release of the Superstar Saga remake, the adventure that began the whole series. The witch Cackletta steals Princess Peach voice and replaces it with explosive words, then escapes to the Beanbean Kingdom with her sidekick Fawful. Mario and Luigi chase her across the border, teaming up with a reluctant Bowser and meeting Prince Peasley along the way. The humor and charm of the original shine in this updated edition.

The remake rebuilds the art with soft colors and smooth animation while keeping the timing based battle system that made the game famous. Bros attacks let the brothers bounce, spin and hammer enemies together, and field moves open new paths as the journey grows. The DX edition also adds Minion Quest, a side mode where Captain Goomba leads a squad to rescue Bowser. It is a warm return to the first adventure, tuned for Nintendo 3DS players.

This Japanese DX edition was sold in boxes across Japan. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible now. The honest way to play is a physical cartridge from a retailer who imports Japanese games, with the language needs of the player kept in mind. People who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games and revisit Beanbean Kingdom whenever they wish.

Where the brothers legend began, rebuilt with care.
