Hey! Pikmin for Nintendo 3DS

About Hey! Pikmin for Nintendo 3DS

Hey Pikmin sends Captain Olimar on an unexpected detour. His ship crashes on a strange planet, and its fuel, called Sparklium, is scattered everywhere. Luckily the local Pikmin are ready to help their new friend. Told from a side view, the adventure follows Olimar as he walks through forests, deserts and snowy lands, collecting treasure and fuel with his tiny plant like helpers. The tone is warm and playful, and Olimar and the Pikmin make an endearing team.

You do not control the Pikmin directly with buttons alone. A tap on the touch screen tosses them at enemies, treasure and obstacles, and each color has its own talent. Red Pikmin resist fire, yellow ones handle electricity and winged ones can lift objects into the air. Puzzles ask you to pick the right type for each job, while keeping every Pikmin safe from hungry creatures. The gentle pace and clever stages make it a relaxing platform adventure.

The second hand market is where most copies live today. March 2023 brought the closure of the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS, ending new digital sales for good. Look instead for a physical cartridge through a retailer or a reputable shop that sells used games. Happily, people who bought it digitally earlier can still access their purchased games on their Nintendo 3DS. Local game shops sometimes keep quiet gems behind the counter.

It is a title the 3DS era can be proud of.
