Fire Emblem Kakusei for Nintendo 3DS

About Fire Emblem Kakusei for Nintendo 3DS

Fire Emblem Kakusei is the Japanese title and release of the game known in the west as Fire Emblem Awakening, for Nintendo 3DS. Kakusei means awakening, and the name fits a game that woke the series up for a worldwide audience. You guide a memory free tactician who joins Prince Chrom and his Shepherds to defend Ylisse from war, risen dead and a future that has already gone wrong once. The Japanese edition carries the story in its original language and voices.

The strategy at its heart is identical to the beloved western release. Units fight on grid maps, pair up to grow stronger together and build supports that unlock conversations, marriages and a second generation of heroes. Classic mode keeps the famous permanent loss of fallen units, while casual mode offers a gentler path. Class changes and skills let you shape the army your way. For players studying Japanese or collecting regional releases, Kakusei offers the complete experience exactly as it first appeared in its home market.

Import players today should remember the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for the Japanese edition. A physical cartridge from a retailer who handles imports is the practical and honest choice now. Owners who bought Fire Emblem Kakusei digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their Nintendo 3DS, keeping their tactician and the Shepherds ready for battle on their own system.

Awakening as it first appeared in Japan.
