Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria for Nintendo Wii U

About Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria for Nintendo Wii U

Dragon Fantasy The Volumes of Westeria is a role playing game built as a love letter to the classics of the genre. Its hero, Ogden, is a retired warrior pulled back into adventure when trouble returns to the kingdom. The world of Westeria is drawn in a charming retro style, with towns, caves and castles that feel like memories of older games brought back to life. The writing mixes sincere questing with gentle jokes about the genre itself, and the whole journey feels warm and familiar in the best way.

Battles are classic turn based affairs against slimes, skeletons and stranger beasts. Ogden grows stronger, finds better gear and learns new skills as the story moves through several connected chapters. A fun addition is the ability to capture monsters and bring them into your party, which adds variety to every team. Dungeons hide treasure and secrets for careful explorers, and the modest length makes this a comfortable adventure rather than an endless one. It respects the classics without copying them blindly, and its heart is easy to feel.

A fair and honest note on getting this retro adventure today follows. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, meaning new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical disc from a retailer, if you can find a copy in stock. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, so Ogden's comeback remains ready on their consoles.

Old hero, old school battles, and a warm retro heart.
