Corpse Party for Nintendo 3DS

About Corpse Party for Nintendo 3DS

Corpse Party is a horror adventure about a group of students who perform a friendship ritual in their classroom and wake up trapped in a haunted, ruined school from another time. The halls of Heavenly Host Elementary are filled with the spirits of children who died there, and every corridor hides a new horror or a clue about escaping. Told in chapters with full Japanese voice acting, the story is famous for being far darker and more emotional than its simple visuals suggest. Few horror games earn their scares like this one.

You explore the school from a top down view, searching rooms, reading notes and making choices that decide who survives. Wrong decisions lead to grim endings, and the game keeps track of every fate you find, encouraging careful thinking and repeat runs. Sound design does heavy work, with whispered voices and creaking floors that are best experienced with headphones. The 3DS version presents the definitive form of the original story, with extra chapters and polished presentation.

Horror fans consider this an essential cartridge for the system. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. A physical copy from a retailer is the best way to own this definitive version today. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their 3DS, though many will agree the haunted halls feel right at home on a shelf too.

Sweet friendship on the surface, pure dread underneath.
