Code Name: S.T.E.A.M for Nintendo 3DS

About Code Name: S.T.E.A.M for Nintendo 3DS

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. stands for Strike Team Eliminating the Alien Menace, and that gloriously direct name tells you exactly what kind of game this is. In an alternate history built on steam power, Abraham Lincoln assembles agents drawn from classic stories to fight an alien invasion of Earth. The art looks like a vintage comic book come to life, all bold lines and dramatic poses, and the story charges from one famous location to the next. It is a big, confident strategy game with a personality all of its own.

Each turn runs on steam, and every step or shot you take spends from the same pool, which turns simple moves into real decisions. The camera sits behind your agents, so you never see the whole battlefield at once and moving carelessly can end in an ambush. Setting overwatch traps, choosing firing angles and saving steam for a retreat are the skills that win missions. New weapons and boilers collected between stages let you tune each agent for the fights ahead.

Few 3DS games look or play like this one, which makes the cartridge a smart pickup. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Retailers still stock physical copies in good numbers, so adding it to a collection is simple. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system and return to the alien war at any time.

Bold, brainy and bursting with comic book energy.
