About BoxBoy for Nintendo 3DS
BoxBoy is a minimalist puzzle platformer starring Qbby, a small square who can grow boxes straight from his body. He works in a box factory research lab and sets out through a strange facility to save his world from a black smoke disaster. The art is plain black and white, the music is calm and the focus is fully on ideas. Each set of stages teaches one new use for boxes. Few games prove so well that a simple square can carry a whole adventure.
Boxes become stairs to high ledges, bridges over spikes, armor against lasers and hooks for pulling yourself across gaps. You can only make a set number at a time, so every puzzle is a question of shape and order. Crowns sit in hard to reach spots for players who solve stages with boxes to spare. The difficulty grows gently, and later worlds combine tricks in ways that feel surprising yet fair. Short levels make it ideal for playing in small daily bites.

This first Qbby adventure is now found through physical channels. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, which means new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play today is a physical cartridge from a retailer, and a series collection edition exists in some regions. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system. It is a beloved title, so copies appear often.
It is proof that the simplest ideas can be the smartest.
