Armikrog for Nintendo Wii U

About Armikrog for Nintendo Wii U

Armikrog is a point and click adventure made almost entirely from real clay and hand built sets. You play Tommynaut, a space explorer who crashes on a strange planet, together with his talking alien dog Beak Beak, who happens to be blind. The two friends get locked inside a fortress and must puzzle their way out. Every room looks like a tiny handmade world, because it is one. The stop motion style gives the game a look and feel that no other adventure can match.

Puzzles are classic point and click fare: find odd items, combine them in funny ways and talk to the very strange locals. Beak Beak is more than a sidekick, since his small size and unique senses open paths Tommynaut cannot reach alone. The humor is gentle and weird, full of songs, jokes and bizarre creatures. Fans of classic adventures will recognize the spirit of the games that inspired it. It is a short trip, but every minute inside this clay world feels special and crafted with real love.

Because the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, you cannot make a new digital purchase of this game today. The practical choice is a physical disc from a retailer with Wii U stock. Owners who bought the digital version before the closure can still access their purchased games, which is good news for early fans. Hunting down a boxed copy can be part of the fun, especially for players building a shelf of Wii U favorites.

This one deserves more love than it got.
